Evaluation

The majority of the work that students will be evaluated on will be completed during class time.  Exceptions to this will be projects which are not worked on diligently in class by certain individuals.  Our projects and evaluation will revolve around the two novel studies, later in the year.

Group Projects  - 30%  (Role playing, collaborative work)

Individual Work  - 30%  (Journals, Portfolio, Personal Reflections and Projects)

Oral Presentations - 15% (Speech, Oral production)

Quizzes - 10%  (Vocabulary, Novel comprehension, Verb tests)

Participation- 15%

There will be on-going evaluation throughout the year as I monitor student progress in their language learning.  My evaluation will be based closely on the Newfoundland and Labrador curriculum guides.

Students should know the basis of the evaluation of their performance and the criteria to be applied. Both product and process should be evaluated. The following are sources of data for student evaluation:

• homework       • journals      • observations      • personal interviews      • dramatizations

• projects       • self-evaluations      • tests       • portfolios       • presentations
